Decode the process, embrace the journey, find the right school

The college application process is a powerful opportunity for independence and self-discovery. It becomes a stressful endeavor when students and families either don't know where to start or start too late.

That's where I come in.

Meet Zach

After six years in highly selective college admissions at Boston College and Holy Cross, and another six in private college consulting, I can say with confidence that each student is unique, with interesting stories and different goals. Building an honest relationship with each student is crucial to how I can help, from brainstorming leadership opportunities to suggesting college visits to guiding students through the essay-writing process.

All of that culminates in finding the right schools for them, and crafting an authentic application to be considered at each one.

9th and 10th grade

While there is such a thing as starting "the college process" too early, beginning our work together during this stage allows for long-term planning and identifying areas of growth:

  1. Course sequencing
  2. Standardized test guidance
  3. Honing interests
  4. Utilizing summer to your advantage
  5. Resume and leadership building

11th grade

As 11th grade begins, so too does all the college chatter. Suddenly, this can become overwhelming. Working together during junior year includes:

  1. Laying out the next 12-16 months with timing and strategy in mind
  2. Suggesting college visits and starting to create the list
  3. Maximizing your summer before senior year to enhance your resume
  4. Helping with university pre-college program / internship applications
  5. Standardized test strategy - which to take, which not to

12th grade

Until you click submit, it's never too late to sharpen your application! Whether the summer before senior year starts or in the thick of application work, I can assist with:

  1. Crafting an authentic personal statement
  2. Tackling the variety of supplemental essays
  3. Confirming a balanced college list
  4. Finalizing an application strategy (i.e. Early Decision, Early Action, Regular Decision)
  5. Packaging your accomplishments and involvements
  6. Preparing for interviews
